Western wind blows across Jupiter beach Sunday
April 28, 2015 | Richard Sites
This past weekend we had record temperatures here in Jupiter and especially Jupiter Farms. This is caused by the wind coming across the Everglades from the Southwest bringing hot and dry air with it. Our breeze is normally a strong, ocean breeze coming from the Southeast.
When the wind comes from the SW, we have flat calm days at the beach as you can see in the picture above. This was taken about 3 pm at Jupiter Beach. In addition to the calm sea, the water gets incredibly clear and both of these conditions mean there are no fish to be caught. There is a saying that wind brings the fish up and western wind does just the opposite.
