ARE THESE THE THREE BEST COUNTRY CLUBS IN JUPITER?
December 29, 2015 | Richard Sites
When I started thinking about which are the three best country clubs in Jupiter, several questions came to mind. First, how do you define best? Each country club has its own distinct “personality”. This “personality” is usually based on which area of the country the members come from and the size of the membership base, as well as the focus of club activities, like boating, golf, tennis or some combination of those three.
Some may have a very active club scene with events going on daily. Others might give you a quiet respite and be attractive if you have a busy professional life. So, since I’ve lived in Jupiter for 25 years and have been in every club around, this is my idea of what the three best clubs are.
Before I go on, I know the members of every club will contend theirs is the best, this is simply my opinion.
For the yachting crowd, Admirals Cove is unquestionably the best. Long regarded as Jupiter’s premier, waterfront community, 941 houses line 6 miles of waterways leading to the Intracoastal and then out to the warm and clear Atlantic. Right now, there are 62 homes for sale in Admirals Cove with prices running as high as $8.9 million.
The marina just underwent a major renovation to allow for a smaller number of much larger yachts. The marina is located adjacent to the main clubhouse, tennis courts, pool and Marina Grille.
The 80,000 square foot main clubhouse is a state of the art, luxury facility with guest rooms, spa, golf pro shop and lavish dining rooms. If you are not a boater but golf is your passion, I recommend The Loxahatchee Club.
Located in the heart of Jupiter, The Loxahatchee Club is an understated and quiet haven for those who like to play one of the finest courses around. Designed by Jack Nicklaus and perfectly maintained, the course will appeal to all serious golfers. Of course, caddies are used and in a club like this there are no tee times.
It is never crowded and you can play whenever you like. The staff will know you and your guests by name and attend to your every desire. And like all the other courses in the area, you will have reciprocity at other venues should you decide to play another club course.
Finally, the club that combines the best of all the others is Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club. It is one of the area’s oldest clubs and offers a marina, 3 golf courses, tennis and 1,227 homes priced to around $2.5 million. There is also a high rise condo, Southporte, offering spectacular views.
The in-town location houses the main clubhouse and the Village Course, as well as tennis and the marina. About 10 miles west of town, there is a second golf clubhouse and two more courses designed by Fazio and Arthur Hills. Every golfer in the area knows that an invitation to play one of these courses means an exciting day of golf lies ahead.
And Jonathan’s Landing is the only club around offering non-resident memberships as well as the option of joining if you reside there. At all other clubs membership is mandatory.
There are at least a dozen other excellent clubs in this area. If you are moving here to enjoy the club scene let’s talk to find out which would be the best fit for you and your family. I have lived here 25 years and know all the clubs well.
