Old Gate Homes: 4 ultra-luxury, waterfront estates
July 7, 2015 | Richard Sites
Old Gate homes occupy one of the few small parcels left along the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Beach Gardens. I have written before on these overlooked spots that offer multi-million dollar residences yet they get overshadowed by the opulent clubs like Admirals Cove and Trump National Jupiter.
The homes in Old Gate number just 4, all waterfront, and assessed at about $3 million. The obscure location, sedately poised behind nondescript gates, achieved some notoriety when PGA Tour pro Rory McIlrory plunked down $10 million for a new home in Old Gate.
He joins the long list of PGA pros who call this area home including Jack Nicklaus, Nick Price, Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler and Steve Marino.
When Rickie Fowler bought his home on the Loxahatchee River, the traffic increased to the point where the small community had to install gates to keep the spectators at a distance. We still see him around at the local breakfast house and barber shop.
You might consider the homes in Old Gate or other location along the Intracoastal if you are looking for a home in the $3-5 million dollar range on an estate sized parcel of land and don’t want or need the trappings of an active club scene. Of course, if you want an understated club with all the amenities, Jonathan’s Landing offers non-resident memberships at a very reasonable price.
There is another home on the market in a similar setting north of Old Gate that not only offers a huge piece of property but comes complete with its own island. You can read about it by clicking here.
