Lobster Season Kicks Off With “Spiny Lobsterfest” at Sailfish Marina
August 1, 2016 | Richard Sites
The season is opening for catching the Florida or spiny lobster and Sailfish Marina on Singer Island is kicking it off with it’s fourth annual Spiny Lobsterfest.
The event will be held this Saturday, August 6, from 12 – 8 pm. Here’s more from their Facebook page:
“This family friendly event will feature several Spiny Lobster Dishes, Live Entertainment, 30 Vendors, Pet Costume Contest, Dunk Tank, Bounce House, Face Painting, Silent Auction, Nautical Artists and so much more! A percentage of all proceeds will go towards the WPB Fishing Club.”
Sailfish Marina is located near the SW corner of Singer Island. Take Blue Heron east, over the bridge and turn right along the waterfront. If you are coming from Singer Island, turn left before the bridge. You can’t miss the marina.
If it is high tide, the water will be crystal clear and you can feed the large school of hungry jacks which call the marina home. The marina faces west which means it will be hot in the afternoon so wear a hat and sunscreen. You can always cool off by snorkeling over under the Blue Heron Bridge, a favorite snorkel and scuba location.
If you can’t make it this Saturday, every Thursday night there is an art and craft show with live music. Check it out and you won’t be disappointed.
