JUPITER INLET COLONY, SAFE!

Jupiter Inlet Colony was ranked, in 2016, as the “Safest Town in Florida” in which to live, according to crime statistics reported by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI!

What is Jupiter Inlet Colony and what makes it so safe?  Let’s take a look.

Jupiter Inlet Colony occupies the southern tip of Jupiter Island, a barrier island off the coast from Jupiter & Tequesta to Hobe Sound & Stuart.

Here, about 250 homes enjoy mostly waterfront locations of either the sparkling, warm Atlantic, the Intracoastal Waterway or the Jupiter Inlet.

There are some “off the water” homes in the interior of the community.  Homes on the water will run from about $3 million to nearly $8 million.  Interior homes run about $1 million.

On the tip of the island is the JIC Beach Club, a private clubhouse and swimming spot for members.

What makes this area so safe?  A couple of things:

First, there is only one entrance to the community.

Second, the community police station sits right at this single entrance.

Third, while it is possible to access the community from the beach side, in order to do that you must park about 3/4 of a mile away so the public very seldom walks that far down the beach (although I have when snook fishing on the north jetty).

Fourth, there is a very strong community spirit and since the town is so small, neighbors all know one another.  And there is no place for the public to park within the community so cars that don’t belong there really stand out.

Jupiter Inlet Colony might appeal to you if you like the oceanfront lifestyle or are looking for a good investment property.  The waterfront homes will continue to climb in value until they reach the price level of other spots like Seminole Landing and Sunny Isles.

The community also has 3 shaded walkways over to the beach for residents.  As I mentioned above, while the beach is technically open to the public, residents of JIC actually have the place to themselves since nobody hikes down there from the parking spaces further north up the island.
