Jupiter Inlet Colony: Your Private Beach Community
October 29, 2015 | Richard Sites
Jupiter Inlet Colony occupies the southern tip of famous Jupiter Island where the island meets the Jupiter Inlet. Accessible by only one small and protected entrance, residents of JIC live in what is certainly one of the most desirable locations in all of Southeast Florida.
I should know since I am from Miami and have traveled up and down the coast my entire life and lived in Jupiter 25 years.
The oceanfront homes in Jupiter Inlet Colony share this location feature with only a few other spots along the coast and in most of these other locations it will cost you over $10 million to buy a house on the ocean. What is so special about JIC is that the beach is nearly always empty and the water is clear and warm. For some reason, the water is clearer on this side of the Inlet than on the other. Here’s a shot of the beach at JIC.
If you don’t want the ocean location or view there are waterfront homes along the Jupiter Inlet and the Intracoastal waterway. Those on the Inlet have some of the best snook fishing in the world. Those located on the Intracoastal have views of the famous Jupiter Lighthouse.
All 3 locations have some of the clearest water to be found around here, almost as clear as the Bahamas. And the Bahama Islands are just 45 miles to the east.
In addition to the waterfront properties, there are “interior” homes that are in the process of being dramatically upgraded or torn down and rebuilt. I recently posted about a bank owned, interior lot that was on the market.
Right now, there are 9 homes for sale in Jupiter Inlet Colony. Use this link to see them all.
