Jupiter Farms, new homes are going up everywhere
May 7, 2015 | Richard Sites
Jupiter Farms is a 16 square mile area west of the Town of Jupiter where homes are situated on 1.25 acres or more. Here, no restrictive HOA covenants dictate what you can and cannot do, so Jupiter Farms means freedom!
As the market for Jupiter homes has heated up again, there is little land left where you can build. Except in Jupiter Farms and new construction is everywhere.
The house above is typical of new construction out here. These homes are typically about 2,000 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Some may have pools. Most sell in the mid-$300’s. But when choosing a home site there are a couple of things you should watch for.
First, many of these lots were wet ones that may still retain water after a heavy rain. How can you tell? Note the surrounding vegetation and when properly identified it will tell you if these trees are partial to water or not.
Second, note how much fill was brought in and placed at the base of the existing trees. Most trees cannot take having their grade changed substantially, particularly pines, and when dirt is piled up around the trunks it will kill the trees.
I have lived in the Farms for 15 years and love it out here. Yet, we are still only 15 minutes from the ocean.
