Historic Flamingo Park in West Palm Beach
May 15, 2015 | Richard Sites
Flamingo Park is a historic section of West Palm Beach just south of the main downtown section near City Place. Encompassing just a few square blocks, this quaint area is undergoing major changes. You can visit their website here.
Most of the Flamingo Park homes here were built in the mid-1920’s and have the classic architectural styles of Spanish Mission, Mediterranean Revival, Frame Vernacular and mid-century Ranch.
These home typically have oak floors, fireplaces, garden views, French doors and open balconies. The home below typifies many of these characteristics.
Flamingo Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the residents take great pride in the tree lined area. Although the homes have charm and character, they lack many of the amenities found in today’s homes, like sprawling kitchens, but they make up for it with architectural details and high quality woods not found in today’s new construction.
