Flag Day: Kid Rock rocks Jupiter Inlet Colony
June 14, 2016 | Richard Sites
Jupiter Inlet Colony is a quiet, oceanfront community of a couple hundred homes on the southern tip of Jupiter Island. It’s most famous resident was Perry Como who, for decades, could be seen walking in the neighborhood with his dog. Since his death, his house has been torn down and the dog lives across the street. More recently, Olivia Newton-John added her celebrity status to JIC by purchasing and reselling an Intracoastal home.
More recently, Kid Rock purchased an oceanfront home and added his own personal touch to the garage door. Even though the house is discreetly tucked behind the landscaping, his flag door is hard to miss.
His family must like the Jupiter area since his sister and parents live nearby.
By any standards, Jupiter Inlet Colony is one of the most desirable, waterfront locations in all South Florida.
For starters, upon entering, you are met by a stop sign across from which is the police station. Anyone thinking of causing trouble will see it as they sit at the sign. And there is only one entrance so everyone entering or leaving knows the police are on duty.
Secondly, the community is surrounded by water on three sides. The warm, clear water of the Atlantic meets what is practically a private beach. On the south, some of the best snook fishing in Florida takes place in the Jupiter Inlet. And homes on the Intracoastal have views of the famous Jupiter lighthouse.
Home prices are rising quickly in the Colony as older homes are torn down and replaced with mansions.
Homes off the water run in the low $1 million range. Those along the waterfront can command up to around $8 million.
