Admirals Cove Yacht Club: Commodore’s Cruise to the Bahamas
July 25, 2016 | Richard Sites
Admirals Cove is Jupiter’s premier, waterfront community and a large portion of the activity is centered around the Marina. While slips in the recently remodeled marina are available for rent, the Admirals Cove Yacht Club is the hub of the activities.
ACYC has three major formal events during the yachting season, with the season opener the third week in November, traditionally the Commissioning of the Fleet. The Commodore’s Ball, usually a Black Tie affair, is held in late January. Near the end of April, they celebrate the new Commodore and Bridge of Officers with the Change of the Watch.
In addition, several trips occur during the season, some short and some longer.
Recently, the Commodore’s Cruise to the Bahamas had 12 boats with 50 people who visited 5 marinas in the Bahamas, which are only about 50 miles to our east.
After clearing customs in Port Lucaya, the group visited Atlantis Resort & Marina, Highbourne Cay, Lyford Cay and Bimini Bay.
Crossing the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas is always safer and more fun in a group.
