MICHAEL JORDAN’S “1000 NORTH” ON SCHEDULE
April 19, 2017 | Richard Sites
Michael Jordan, a Jupiter resident for several years, is part owner in a new restaurant going up on the Jupiter Inlet. “1000 North” is rising on the site formerly occupied by Brix, a failed restaurant.
While the location right on the Jupiter Inlet could not be better, other restaurants like Bubba Gumps on the inlet, have failed.
What we have seen recently is a spike in the local outdoor dining experience due to several other nearby hot spots.
Guanabanas is located on an inner body of water just off the Intracoastal, part of the original Jupiter river. This spot features a distinctly tropical feel with bright colors and a interesting landscape since one of the owners is a local landscape architect.
The Woods, Tiger’s spot in Harbourside Place, while not outdoors has a sleek and sophisticated interior and is packed, literally, every night.
The Square Grouper, on the inlet, features a fun filled tropical environment with a white sand beach under swaying palms and live music. On weekend nights you will lucky to get in the place is so crowded, especially with the young, single crowd.
The newest arrival in town is U Tiki Beach, complete with marina. It opens at noon for lunch and by 12:03 every seat is taken.
So, with all this activity, it will be interesting to see how 1000 North fares. 1000 North is scheduled to open at year’s end.
Plans say the first floor will be open to the public as will the 9 transient boat docks where you can tie up for 3 hours.
The second floor will be a private club. Membership in the club will run you about $2,500 per year.
Jupiter’s waterfront is really starting to boom since Harbourside Place and Riverwalk opened.
And while parking is an issue at these spots, if you can find a place or use the valets, the weather is fabulous and I find myself eating outside at U Tiki many Sundays afternoons then spending a couple more hours simply watching the boats and the people.
Nothing beats a waterfront location and if you are in town, check out any of these spots.
